Valentines Park Forest Garden & Colours of Redbridge

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Colours of Redbridge is an initiative, supported by the Arts Council, which aims to increase the participation of members of the Redbridge community in cultural and creative activities. Valentines Park Forest Garden has had the wonderful opportunity of receiving funds from Colours of Redbridge, to organise nature-related art activities. We have collaborated with local artists to organise sessions to interest people who have not visited the Forest Garden before. Our sessions have been enormously popular and we have been lucky to meet so many new people!

Art in the Forest for Homeschoolers

Locally, we have a vibrant homeschooling community and Amber of Bee in Creative came along to organise Art in the Forest for us. Children of all ages 'explored and experimented' using paints, clay, volcanoes and coloured rice and lentils!

Adult Plein Air Workshop

For those of us who haven't picked up a paintbrush since school, our Adults Plein Art Watercolour workshop offered a welcome chance to try our hand at painting greenery in the Forest Garden. Local artist, Brenda Coyle encouraged us to believe that there is an Artist in all of us!

Half Term in the Forest

The Forest Garden was bursting with energy again when Amber ran a holiday activity session.

Christchurch Primary School Workshop

When rain threatened to stop play, instead of Christchurch school kids coming to the Forest Garden, we took the Forest Garden to them! (Paints, leaves and flowers at least!) Brenda asked the children to explore the parts of leaves and how to mix colours. She was very impressed with their enthusiasm and positivity!

Keep an eye on this space as more workshops are coming!
